George York will update LES members on U.S. government efforts to secure commitments from trading partners relating to intellectual property and innovation across a range of bilateral, plurilateral and multilateral processes, including in the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) Agreement with the EU. He will touch on cooperative efforts undertaken through the Trans-Atlantic IPR Working Group to foster close coordination and cooperation with Europe, as well as noteworthy developments in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and other fora in which IP issues may arise.
Stevan Mitchell will describe to LES members the policy development and business facilitation responsibilities of ITA's Office of Intellectual Property Rights, and how it works cooperatively with USPTO and other Departments and agencies to deliver on these responsibilities, particularly for the benefit of small to medium sized enterprises. He will also outline some recent changes in trade-in-services data collection and reporting practices bearing on IP, illustrate recent trends reflected in the data, and direct LES members to where they can find publicly accessible sources of data for their own product development.
